BAKED INTO MONROE
Erie Bread Company has always been more than a bakery, it’s a place where world-class food brings people together in the heart of Monroe. From the start, our goal has been to serve food that connects people and strengthens the community we call home.

We’re proud to share where Erie Bread is headed next. In February 2024, Monroe native Brandon Ansel purchased Erie Bread, keeping the traditions alive while adding a bold vision for growth. Brandon brings over 20 years of restaurant experience, including nearly two decades running a Biggby Coffee franchise in Jackson. A longtime fan of Erie Bread—he calls himself “obsessed” with the sourdough, pizzas, and pepperoni roll subs—he now channels that passion into shaping the bakery’s future. His plans include expanding into the Downriver area and Toledo, while continuing to grow right here in Monroe.

Of course, the excitement around Erie Bread has always started with the food. Known for high-quality ingredients at a good value, everything is made fresh daily. As Brandon puts it: “To feed our customers every day is amazing. People are so appreciative of the quality and the value at Erie Bread, so I get a lot of positive feedback every day.”

Since 2010, Erie Bread has proudly sourced ingredients locally whenever possible, supporting the same neighbors who support us. Our shelves and ovens are filled not only with bread and pastries, but also with stories—of friendships made over sandwiches, families stopping in after school, and longtime customers who have become part of our bakery family. At Erie Bread, it’s about fresh, world-class food, the joy of satisfied taste buds, and the community we’re all part of. Because for us, community isn’t just something we belong to—it’s who we are.
